Don Harrison joined the firm as Senior Counsel on September 1, 2008. Prior to joining LMV, Don had an established statewide practice with a Birmingham civil defense firm. Don specializes in workers’ compensation defense and related employment matters, such as claims for outrage and retaliatory discharge. Don has successfully defended a wide range of employers in the construction, utility, healthcare, manufacturing and retail industries, as well as government sector employers. Don has substantial trial experience, having won successful verdicts for employers throughout Alabama. In addition to his workers’ compensation defense practice, Don has experience protecting employers’ subrogation rights in third-party lawsuits brought by injured employees. Don has been particularly successful with closing medical benefits in workers’ compensation claims, including through the use of Medicare Set-Asides. Don’s workers’ compensation defense practice is pragmatic, cost effective, and aggressive in achieving his clients’ workers’ compensation goals, making Don a natural fit with the firm.
Don is originally from Dothan, Alabama, and received a Bachelor of Science from Auburn University. He received his law degree from The University of Alabama School of Law, where he was a member of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society. Following law school, Don served as law clerk for the Honorable Jack D. Carl and the Honorable Houston L. Brown of the Tenth Judicial Circuit of Alabama in Birmingham. Don and his wife, Ginny, reside in Birmingham with their daughter, Caroline.
